I did this poster for my friends SPACED VELVET. They're a great psychedelic stoner alternative rock band that formed recently in Columbus, Ohio. Altogether, they are a load of talent and something new and unique to the Columbus music scene, definitely worth the small fee of $5. Not to mention you get to see TeamNate, another talented group from Toledo, Ohio. And if that's not enough, DJ Self Help (Dance or Die) and Mr.Leg will be there!

This was the first collage of the new series. There's more layers and details in these new ones. The pink brick wall is sewn into the yellow card stock behind it.

Nerd Bird

My friend Lyman and I met as interns for a comedy company called Slapstik. We worked together designing the website and thought that we could make a couple bucks starting our own company. So I designed this cute little logo.

Pantyhose Project

This new project is made of pantyhose stuffed with Poly Fil, which is just the regular plush in stuffed animals and cheap pillows. I cut the legs off the pantyhose and then sewed them back together, creating long tubes that I intertwined. I wanted the form to be more bulbous than pretzel-looking so I began to control the shape with string. It's not finished yet, I'm thinking of turning it into a back pack. I'm hoping that it will resemble a spider's egg sack.

The portrait of the little girl comes from a Time magazine article about poisonous plastics that may link to cancer. The small gold dots are made out of puffy paint.

Spaced Velvet

My best friend is in the great new band called Spaced Velvet. I designed a flyer for them but then decided that I wanted to make a simple poster design or logo. So I came up with these two.

I found some scrap wood in the wood shop and cut them down into equal squares. In the center of each square is a pile of sugared adhered together by mod podge.

My friends Marina and Carolyn put on this great local show called BIGGIE SMALLS at Junctionview Studios. I sold it for $20 and I was told it is hanging in a kitchen somewhere in Columbus.

I used an old canvas that I found as work. I painted the canvas a flat lilac purple and then laid a crocheted table piece on top and spray painted it with baby pink. I then cut out an egg shape out of card stock and spray painted a thin coat of white...fading it out on the corners. Around the edges I used puffy paint to create small raised dots.

I found this pin up illustration in an old Playboy. Yes, that's a ball gag in her mouth.

I found a series of photographs in Playboy that were all black and white and rather beautiful. The background was painted with white acrylic. I found a bunch of lipstick samples and made marks all over the center of the canvas. I placed the image in the center and framed the top and the bottom with lace.

To create the smokey background I laid string randomly over beige paper and then sprayed it lightly with baby pink spray paint. The dinosaur skull is from a National Geographic.
